Hi! I’m María Verónica Laguna, I am a psychotherapist in private practice based in Uruguay. Psychoanalysis and Social Justice is a growing collaborative database with articles, books, events and multimedia resources on Psychoanalysis and Social Justice.
At first, the name of the website seemed redundant: shouldn’t the practice and theory of psychoanalysis go hand-in-hand with the pursuit of social justice? Unfortunately, this is not the case. This project, was borne out of the need to insist in that connection.
At the time I started this website (2020), I was an immigrant from Uruguay, freshly out of a post-graduate program in NYC and starting my private practice in Manhattan. Six years later, I am writing this post from Uruguay, my homeland, where I have decided to return, partly by choice, partly by seeking refuge from an authoritarian regime.
Through this website, I remain connected with people across the world, participate in on-line and in person events, and hear about the inspiring work some of you are engaging in.
For submissions, fill out the contact form below.
Thank You!
Maria Verónica Laguna, LCSW
