Assessing In-Depth Therapy as a Social Justice Imperative: Race, Culture, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Presented by Dr. Usha Tummala-Narra
With an Introduction by Dr. Linda Michaels
This course will address myths concerning psychodynamic psychotherapy with racial and ethnic minority clients–specifically how these myths shape racial disparities in access to mental health care. We will explore both the historical neglect of sociocultural issues in clinical theory and more recent, contemporary perspectives on culturally informed psychodynamic psychotherapy, as well as the dire need for improved access to in-depth therapy.
Eligible participants will receive 3 CEUs through IDPFR or the APA. Qualifying Social Workers will earn 3 CEU’s toward Cultural Competency requirements.
Fees:
Seeking CEU’s: $75.00
Not Seeking CEU’s: $25.00
